Thank You and Best Wishes Rev. Beth
As you may or may not know, June 14 was Rev. Beth Harbaugh’s last day preaching at Fairfield First United Methodist Church. The SPPR Committee would like to thank Rev. Beth for all she has done for the church. From empowering the church with bringing back the worship committee, encouraging church members to become leaders of the church, to establishing a lay leader group and helping them to create a discipleship pathway,
Rev. Beth has encouraged and nurtured our congregation to use our spiritual gifts to be the best disciples of God that we can be. Just like 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
We wish Rev. Beth the best of luck at her new ministry with Women at the Well. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” We know she will do great things for them and the Conference, just as she did for us! Please accept these gifts as a token of our appreciation and as a remembrance of the good times, we have had together. Thank you for all you have done and good luck on your new journey!
Remember Lamentations 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Thank you for all you have done and good luck on your new journey!
Carrie Brownlee, SPPR Committee Chair
Help for Research Study
A member of our congregation, Sylvia Richards, is conducting a research study and has asked for our help. The purpose of the study is to explore how one’s experience of Christianity helps to develop faith and sustain faith over time.
All adults (18 years and up) in Jefferson County with a Christian background are eligible to participate in the study.
This study is limited to Jefferson County, but not limited to the United Methodist Church. All adults from any of the churches in Jefferson County are invited to participate, as well as those who don’t attend any church, as long as they have some background with the Christian tradition.
I would like to have as broad a range of participants as possible–those who attend church every Sunday as well as those who seldom or never attend (and everyone in between).
There are two phases to this study:
- An online questionnaire that takes about 10 minutes to complete. People can participate directly online, or they can call or text me at 641-451-0527 to participate by phone. The link to the online survey is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ChristianResearch
- Phase Two is a followup to the questionnaire and involves a personal interview with the researcher (Sylvia Richards). It could be in person or on Zoom. Completing the online questionnaire does not obligate anyone to be interviewed.
Please invite all your friends in Jefferson County to participate in the online questionnaire. It is easy and fun! Talk to your friends, post on Facebook, or send an email. Thanks so much for your help!
